Detail
ICMA published Part I of its report on DLT and Repo in June 2026, based on analysis of live and pilot DLT repo implementations across global capital markets. The report makes several findings directly relevant to Chainlink infrastructure. First, ICMA explicitly identifies oracles as necessary future infrastructure, stating: "DLT will need new types of intermediary (eg wallet-providers and oracles)." Second, interoperability between independent ledgers is identified as the central unsolved problem — cross-chain repo is the most common DLT model tested, and synchronisation between ledgers is a core requirement. Third, Canton Network appears repeatedly as settlement infrastructure used in DLT repo experiments — Chainlink is already integrated with Canton. Fourth, JP Morgan Kinexys is identified as the only major commercial DLT repo success by end of 2025, with approximately USD 2 billion daily turnover and approximately USD 3 trillion cumulative turnover by 2026. Chainlink has already worked alongside Kinexys in tokenized asset and DvP settlement initiatives. Fifth, the report highlights the emergence of tokenized collateral, tokenized Treasuries, digital collateral records, and tokenized deposits as the direction of institutional fixed income markets — all requiring Chainlink Proof of Reserve, NAVLink, CCIP, and data standards.
Why it matters
ICMA — the global standards body for capital markets — explicitly names oracles as necessary future infrastructure in a DLT world. The same report confirms interoperability between ledgers as the central unsolved problem, validates Canton Network and Kinexys as the leading institutional implementations, and describes the exact tokenized collateral workflows that Chainlink CCIP, CRE, Proof of Reserve, and NAVLink are built to serve.
