In plain English
In plain terms: the company that runs the Swiss and Spanish stock exchanges is now publishing its share price data onto blockchains using Chainlink. That means a smart contract can read the real price of a Swiss blue-chip share from the exchange that actually lists it, rather than from an unofficial source. It covers over €2 trillion of listed companies. Worth being clear about what it isn't: this is about prices and data, not about moving money or settling trades, and it is separate from the Swiss National Bank's digital currency work on SIX Digital Exchange.
Detail
Evidence class: PRODUCTION. SIX Group, the operator of financial market infrastructure in Switzerland and Spain, has made equities data from SIX Swiss Exchange and BME Exchange available onchain through Chainlink's DataLink service. Scope of the integration: • Equities listed on both exchanges, equivalent to over €2 trillion in combined market capitalisation. • Data reachable by more than 2,600 applications across more than 75 blockchain networks. • Exchange data can be accessed programmatically inside standardised smart contract environments. Matthew Nurse, Head Market Data at SIX, framed the integration as delivering real-time regulated market data and bringing Swiss and Spanish blue-chip equities onchain, enabling digital asset applications to draw on trusted market data through established infrastructure. What this is and is not: this is a market data integration. It concerns the publication of regulated exchange pricing and reference data to blockchain environments. It is not a settlement, custody or CBDC arrangement, and it does not involve SIX Digital Exchange (SDX), the separately FINMA-licensed exchange and central securities depository within SIX Group.
Why it matters
A systemically important European exchange operator — Switzerland's national market infrastructure and Spain's — publishing its regulated equity data onchain through Chainlink, in production rather than pilot. It is the strongest available evidence for Switzerland and Spain in this database and, at the time of entry, the only SIX entry in it. Its limits matter as much as its weight: this is data publication, not settlement, and it says nothing about SDX or the Swiss National Bank. Those are separate relationships within the same corporate group, and conflating them would be exactly the kind of transitive inference this database is built to avoid.
